If you have a “Sat-Nav” entering the post code TN31 7RJ will get you to the centre of Camber. In the summer, on a particularly sunny weekend, expect some queuing as long queues build up as cars wait to enter the main car parks close to the beach.
There is “free”, “limited” and “pay on entry” parking. All “pay on entry” parking is only open during the summer period from Easter to the end of September. During the winter months there are limited Pay and Display ticket machines that operate at Camber sands central car park. In the summer months if you are arriving from the Ashford/Rye A259 on your left hand side as you enter the village a local farmer opens his fields up for parking at a discounted rate…but this is normally on sunny days only! Current rates (2012) at the District Council car parks are as follows: 8:30-18:00 £1.50 / hour £4.00 / 2 hours £7.00 / 4 hours £9.00 / 6 hours £11.00 / 8 hours £13.00 / maximum. Free parking can be found in some areas of the village and in between Camber and Jury’s gap to the south west of Camber which is a very popular area for the Kite surfers. When the tide is in this part of the beach is shingle. However, with the tide out, its sand all the way! It is not advisable to park on the verges at Camber as Police do patrol the area and parking tickets are issued on a very regular basis. But be warned…ALL CAR PARKS – FREE, DISCOUNTED OR RUN BY ROTHER DISTRICT COUNCIL ARE CLOSED AND LOCKED AT 8PM!
